We have always thought of The Stag as a community hub. Whilst we support Mentmore community events like the well-established Mentmore Arts Festival, we also welcome wider communities. Whether you’re a cyclist, rambler, horse rider, car enthusiast, dog walker, or anyone who enjoys the beautiful Buckinghamshire countryside, you will always receive a warm and friendly welcome at The Stag. We are dog-friendly, too, so don’t forget to bring your four-legged friends along for the ride!

Historical Legacy

Our Story

Mentmore and The Stag are steeped in history. Baron Mayer de Rothschild built The Stag in the mid-1840s, and since then, it has had many landlord changes, culminating in the pub being acquired by the local community and reopening in June 2021. We hope you find our story interesting…
