Our completely refurbished pub now offers something for everyone. Whether you’re looking for brunch, somewhere to meet friends for a coffee, a few drinks, or a delicious meal, you’ll always receive a warm and friendly welcome at The Stag. We’re now independent of any brewery and we stock a wide selection of local beers, ales, wines and spirits – ours will be a pint of our very own 1847 ale please! Our fab menus are brimming with fresh seasonal produce, showcasing the very best from our local suppliers.
Established in 1847, The Stag has been a foodie destination for many years. With our vision and loving restoration, we hope to continue this tradition for many more years to come. So pop in, have a drink and something to eat and leave with a smile on your face.
A WARM, ENJOYABLE EXPERIENCE, MORNING, NOON, AND NIGHT
The Stag is more than just a Pub, it’s a destination! We’re open Wednesday through Sunday, serving brunch, light bites, coffee, tea and delicious homemade cakes. In the evenings, we serve delicious meals and a wide selection of drinks.
What’s on offer
FOODIES AT HEART
Where possible, we source our food from local suppliers to ensure our ingredients are fresh, sustainable and of the highest quality. Whether you are joining us for coffee and pastries in the morning, tea and cake in the afternoon, or a more substantial meal for lunch or dinner you certainly won’t be disappointed!
Eddy, our head chef is happy to prepare all the classic pub favourites, often with a unique twist, but is also passionate about coming up with new menu suggestions to inspire your taste buds. Our aim is to always offer you a great tasting, well-priced dining experience that will have you coming back for more.
PEOPLE & PARTNERS
We have always thought of The Stag as a community hub. Whilst we will be supporting Mentmore community events like the well-established Arts Festival, we also welcome other communities too. Whether you’re a cyclist, rambler, horse rider, car enthusiast or indeed anyone who enjoys the beautiful Buckinghamshire countryside, you will always receive a warm and friendly welcome at The Stag. Oh, and don’t forget to bring your dogs along for the ride too!
Mentmore and The Stag are steeped in history. The pub was built by Baron Mayer de Rothschild in the mid-1850s and since then it has had many changes of landlord culminating the pub becoming owned by the community and reopening in June 2021. We hope you find our story interesting…
